ABG Shipyard, which has one shipyard each at Surat and Dahej with a total area of approximately 620,000 sq m, proposes to set up a third one at an unknown location in three phases in Gujarat.
The company sent a proposal for the same during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2013. Besides, the firm also plans to expand its facilities at Dahej and Magdalla in three phases, with an estimated investment of Rs 2,000 cr.
Including the greenfield shipyard project, the country’s largest private shipbuilder proposed to invest Rs 5,000 crore in Gujarat to develop the stateÂ’s coastline.
The proposed shipyard may generate employment for about 4,500, reports suggest.
