Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that Andhra Pradesh was well-positioned to emerge as an aviation hub with Vijayawada (Gannavaram) airport registering an impressive growth in passenger traffic. The other two major airports at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati were also making rapid strides.
He expressed happiness that the MOCA had agreed in principle for the construction of a regular/permanent terminal building at Vijayawada airport, paving the way for a cargo centre.
Inaugurating the terminal building of the airport and laying the foundation for the runway extension along with Union Ministers P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, M Venkaiah Naidu, YS Chowdary and Bandaru Dattatreya among other dignitaries, Naidu said the passenger traffic in India had increased by 18 per cent last year.
