Paving way for providing a signal-free corridor and streamlining traffic flow between Delhi and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the Noida Authority has managed to get the design for the double U-turn on the road running in front of Sector 15A approved. The proposal was in a limbo for the last two months over the issue of felling of 60 trees in the area.

J&K’s left out habitations to be provided road links
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani on February 23 said that the Union government approved revision of its core network to include as many as 1,100 left out unconnected habitations with a population of 250 persons and above in Jammu and Kashmir under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).
Canal Road in Nagpur repaired for the 4th time in 2-yrs
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has wasted money on repairing (asphalting) a road for the fourth time in the last two years, well within the defect liability period in which the contractor is responsible for any problems. At the same time, a nearby stretch of road has been neglected for over 10 years. The sorry state of affairs continues despite strict directives by municipal commissioner Shyam Wardhane.
NHAI to have final say on road alignment in Kerala
The Kerala government will no longer push for any comprehensive changes in the alignments fixed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening of highways in Kerala. Emphasising its stand, the State government has decided to set up a committee chaired by the chief secretary for rectifying mistakes, if any, at places where there is serious problems and for protecting the places of worship from demolition.
Mysore’s key road turns into a mess as widening delayed
In Mysore, the ongoing widening work of Dhanvantri Road, which connects many key roads and is bustling with commercial activities, has turned the road into a mess. Motorists are finding it difficult to navigate past this busy road due to the haphazard parking of vehicles on both sides of the road.
Chandigarh-Manali NH 21 to be made into four lanes
The Chandigarh-Mandi-Manali National Highway will soon be upgraded to four lane, Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has announced. Singh, who announced the decision while presiding over the review meeting of Public Works Department (PWD), said that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake the construction work in the NH 21.
MLA inspects road works in Tamei of Manipur
In Manipur state, MLA Z Kikhonbou Newmai paid an inspection visit to take stock of the construction process along Tamei-Tousem road, Tamei-Haflong road, Tamei-Tamenglong road and Tamei-Taning road in Tamenglong district. The inspection visit of MLA Z Kikhonbou on February 25 was accompanied by RKH Singh, Additional Secretary of NEC P Tiken, Additional Chief Engineer and SE Sharatkumar.
UP sets aside Rs 984.88 lakh for Varanasi road works
The Uttar Pradesh government's allotment of funds in its budget for road repair and construction work in Varanasi was welcomed by all. Due to digging of roads for laying pipelines under the projects of sewage, drainage and water supply line over the past five years there is hardly any road fit for smooth vehicular movement.
Delhi CM inaugurates concrete road project in Gole Market
In Delhi, a project of concrete road for internal lanes of the Sector-II, DIZ area, Gole Market at MS Flats-Peshwa Road and J-Block, Mandir Marg was inaugurated by the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. The work of DIZ Sector-II has begun and will be completed by May, 2014.
NHAI to convert quarries into water storage ponds
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed to use quarries after closure for storing water. It will provide a fencing or wall around the pits for safety purpose and allow the use of the water for agriculture and domestic use. It has sought permission for quarrying in three districts of Vidarbha in Maharashtra-Wardha, Yavatmal and Gondia.
