Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Madurai division carried out an encroachment eviction drive at two places along the Madurai - Theni national highway (NH) on February 19. More than 150 temporary encroachments in front of the shops between Kalavasal Signal and Mudakkusalai were removed with the help of an earth moving vehicle.

‘Indian road sector needs nodal dispute resolution authority’
According to CARE Ratings agency, investment in road and bridge sector is projected at Rs 9.20 lakh crore during the Twelfth Five Year Plan period ending March 2017, as against Rs 5.16 lakh crore invested during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period ending March 2012.
