CESC power distribution contract overseas
The power flagship of the Rs 10,000 crore RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, CESC has now taken the first step in power distribution space overseas, bagging a distribution right for Port Harcourt in Nigeria, Sanjiv Goenka, Vice-Chairman, CESC and Chairman of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, said. The distribution right covers an area of 48,000 sq km and an annual turnover of $180 million.

Gamesa wins contract
Gamesa Wind Turbines India has bagged an order from SJVN, a ‘mini-ratna’ central public sector undertaking, for the supply of 56 wind turbines of 850 kW capacity each totalling 47.60 MW. The order comes with a 10-year ‘operations
and maintenanceÂ’ services contract.

J&K to add 8 GW hydel capacity

Model solar cities
The Union New and Renewable Energy Ministry is to develop 41 cities, including Chandigarh, Nagpur, Mysore and Gandhinagar, as model solar cities. The list of proposed solar model cities also includes Gandhinagar, Nagpur and Chandigarh. The Ministry has approved the master plans for the 28 cities and the project installations have already started in a few cities, the Ministry said in a release.

Essar Power Vadinar P2 project
Essar Power has commissioned the second unit of 225 MW of its 510 MW Vadinar Phase 2 project in Gujarat. The coal-fired Vadinar P2 plant with a total capacity of 510 MW is now fully commissioned and will be providing power and process steam to Essar OilÂ’s nearby oil refinery.

Dhamra PortÂ’s new record
The traffic throughput in October at Dhamra Port exceeded the one-million tonne-mark reaching 1.17 million tonne for the first time in the last 18 months. The port could achieve this throughput because of improved productivity, handling of iron ore shipment and the diversion of dry bulk carriers from Haldia to Dhamra.

Kolkata Port expansion plan
Through the Haldia Dock II project, the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) plans to add 23.4 million tonne capacity. The project, which will be executed under public-private partnership (PPP) model, received approval from the PPP appraisal committee (PPPAC) for the model concession.

MPT terminal project
Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), which opened bids for its proposed 2-million tonne per year coal berth terminal, received the highest offer from Gammon Infrastructure.The firm offered a revenue share of 33.66 per cent for the contract, which involves mechanisation and operation of the terminal. With an offer of 27 per cent revenue share, JSW emerged as the second highest bidder.
