Govt proposes price pooling for imported, domestic gas

Price pooling has been proposed by the Union Power Ministry for imported and domestically produced natural gas to be supplied to power plants stranded by a drop in production of the fuel from Reliance Industries' KG-D6 block. The ministry floated a Cabinet note last week to seek government's permission to pool imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) with the fuel available from the KG-D6 block after meeting the requirements of fertiliser units.

State highways in Odisha to be developed at Rs 3,000 cr

Odisha is to repair its State Highways at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore in the next four years. The State government has started process for tenders for road works of 381 km in the first phase at a cost of Rs 633 crore. The government has come out with Ć‚ā€˜State Highways Development Programme (SHDP), a new scheme for the purpose. Under the plan, the government aims to double lane all the State Highways within 12th Five Year Plan with an estimated investment of Rs 3,000.00 crore.

Hyderabad civic body sets Oct 10 as deadline to repair roads

To repair potholed damaged roads in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set a deadline of October 10 for its engineers and contractors concerned. GHMC has estimated the repairs to cost Rs 15 crore. Forts it will take all the main corridors and main city roads immediately for the repair works. Later, inner lanes and by-lanes will be taken up.

Railways mulls to switch over to LNG for its locomotives

Indian Railways' Research Design & Standard Organisation (RDSO) is developing locomotive prototype which will run on LNG. The Railways plans to build around 20 LNG-based locomotives once the prototype proves to be successful. The Railways expects to halve the operating cost of locomotives even at the current enhanced LNG prices.
