Indian Oil Corp to raise $500 mn loan
Indian government-owned and the country's largest refiner Indian Oil Corp (IOC) will raise $500 million loan by the end of August, sources in the company said on August 13. The company stated that the loan is to be used for working capital requirements.
Coal berth in Chennai Port to become container terminal
The Chennai Port Trust is to convert the Jawahar Dock (East) berth into a small container terminal to handle around 8,00,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs) a year. The berth was used to handle coal till a few years back, but has been lying unused after coal handling was shifted to Ennore port. The port's proposal for a Rs 4,200-crore mega container terminal failed to attract good response from potential bidders recently.
JNPT to build a new liquid terminal at Rs 1,800 cr
Media reports say that Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India's largest container port, is to build Rs 1,800 crore new liquid terminal. JNPT is to build the terminal through public-private-partnership route. The port's Deputy Chairman N N Kumar said that the Port Trust has finalised plans to build the terminal having a capacity of 15 million tonne per annum and it will needed an investment of Rs 1,600-1,800 crore.
Worli-Sewri elevated road to be ready in 4-yrs
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has stated that though the 22.5 km Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project has been delayed, the Worli-Sewri elevated road, which is meant for dispersal of the MTHL traffic to Western parts of the city, will be constructed as per the schedule.
Jetpur-Somnath highway-8D to be widened into 4-lane
In Gujarat, the Jetpur-Somnath Section of National Highway (NH)- 8D is being converted into four lane under NHDP Phase-III by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Four laning of Bhavnagar-Veraval Section and two lane paved shoulder/four laning of Gadu Dwarka section of NH-8E is scheduled to be completed in September, 2015.

The Union government has given its consent to the expansion work on the Kerala BorderĆāKollegal section of National Highway-212 in Karnataka. The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 4.5 crore for construction and repair of roads near the new campus of Lucknow University. The State PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav, who visited the campus of the University, directed the Nirman Nigam officials to start construction of the science building which has been lying incomplete for past three years.
Bihar highways to be upgraded at $300 mn ADB loan
To upgrade 254 kilometres of highways, which are in a very bad condition in northern and southern Bihar, the Union government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $300 million additional loan. The additional financing for the ongoing Bihar State Highways-II Project will widen the sections of existing four highways to two lanes, build and maintain bridges and repair the pavements.
Uniform toll policy prevails in country: Minister
There is a uniform policy for levying and collection of user toll for highways in the country, said Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways in Lok Sabha recently. According to him, the Union government has notified the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates & Collection) Rules, 2008 on December 5 in 2008, as amended from time to time, for the projects taken up on or after 05.12.2008.
