Contractors will be made responsible for the damaged roads they have built in Kerala. The Kerala government has taken this step as the stateĆās road network collapsed in recent heavy rains. The State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said recently that the contractors will be asked to repair on their own the roads that collapsed within a year of construction.

Chhavni road in Indore to be widened
In Indore, widening work of Chhavni road was scheduled to start from August 13. Widening of the road will lessen the traffic load on BRTS corridor.
Road from Chhavni Crossing on BRTS to Jagannath Dharamshala is going to be widened up to 60 feet. Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) said that certain encroachments on Chhavni road will be removed as part of the road widening.

Jingiriguda portable bridge in Odisha remains unused
As there are no approach roads built to the portable steel bailey bridge over river Kerlema under Jingiriguda panchayat in Phulbani town area, people are unable to use it. The bridge was inaugurated six months back by the MP Rudra Madhab Roy. The bridge was constructed under the Integrated Action Plan scheme by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency of Balliguda at an estimated cost of Rs 1.7 crore. It is 150 feet in length.

Udupi to get Varahi river water supply soon
In Karnataka, Udupi city will be provided drinking water supply from Varahi river and a dam will be constructed in Saligrama town panchayat limits. Gumla DPC in Jharkhand clears development works
In Jharkhand's Gumla district, the District Planning Committee (DPC) has cleared various schemes worth Rs 66 crore for the annual action plan under the Backward Region Grant Fund on August 10.
