Kerala govt allots Rs 80 cr for bridge project
Kerala government allotted Rs 80 crore for the construction of the Edakochi-Kannangattu bridge, the state excise Minister K Babu said at a function on the completion of a Hudco project at Pampayi Moola. The Trivandrum Development Authority (TRIDA) has decided to go ahead with the second phase of the Capital Region Development plan, providing outer ring roads to the city. The Kerala government is only in the final stages of selecting a transaction advisor for the plan. The empowered committee headed by the Chief Secretary is in the process of shortlisting the advisor for preparing a detailed project report, Chairman of the Authority PK Venugopal said.
Bangalore’s Sarjapur Road to be restored in 4 months
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which is building a signal-free corridor between Sirsi Circle and Agara, plans to complete the restoration work on Sarjapur Road and 80-feet road in four months. The announcement has brought some cheers to the residents of Koramangala and other road users.
Tourist facilities to dot TN’s highways
The Tamil Nadu government is taking initiative to develop facilities at its tourist spots and generate further revenue. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Department plans to provide tourist-friendly facilities along highways by establishing high-standard amenities at an interval of 50 km. Both private and corporate promoters would be encouraged to take part in the project. Travellers would be able to access numerous facilities like restaurants, bookshop, medical shops, ATMs, and Internet cafés.

Developers involved in widening four-lane roads to six lane may have to wait till the completion of the projects before collecting toll. The Union Road Transport Ministry is planning to rewrite the Model Concession Agreement (MCA) that allows them to collect toll.
PM to inaugurate Mughal Road on June 25
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to inaugurate the Mughal Road later this month. Chennai’s multi-crore road project faces more delays
A delay by Chennai Metrowater in shifting water main line running beneath Manali Oil Refinery Road (MORR), is threatening to push the deadline of the Rs 600-crore Ennore-Manali Road Improvement Project in north Chennai. The project envisages widening of four arterial roads in the northern neighbourhoods. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said the body had paid Metrowater to shift the line and the water agency had already laid a new line.
ICCT Vallarpadam to get highway connectivity by 2014
It will take one more year to provide highway connectivity to International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICCT) Vallarpadam in Kochi, which is expected to give a major boost to the country's trade. Despite its strategic importance, the project that was scheduled for completion in early 2010, is now expected to be commissioned by 2014.
