A crucial river-bridge on NH-6 near Kolaghat, approximately 70 km from Kolkata, was completed on April 1. Developed by the Mumbai-based Ashoka Buildcon, the 1.2-km bridge over Roopnarayan River was a Golden Quadrilateral project undertaken by National Highways Authority of India in 2001.

Blore’s MG Road boulevard to be ready by this month-end
In Bangalore, the MG Road boulevard which is being reconstructed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) will be thrown open to public by the end of this April. The boulevard with two-tier walkway is receiving finishing touches with inspection and maintenance checks being carried out by engineers and BMRCL authorities.
Gammon gets financial closure for 5 road projects
Gammon Infrastructure Projects has received financial closures for five road projects spread across different states. The company received a total grant of over Rs 1,000 crore for these projects, according to Parag Parikh, ED and CFO, Gammon Infra. The five road projects include Yamunanagar-Panchkula in Haryana, Patna-Buxar in Bihar, Sidhi-Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh, Birmitrapur Barkote in Orissa and Vijayawada Gundugolanu in Andhra Pradesh.
Highway construction reaches 15 km a day
Construction and expansion of national highways touched 15 km a day during 2012-13, registering an increase of over 4 km per day. Though this is much less than the government's commitment to construct 20 km per day, it has come as a relief to the Union Highways Ministry and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in light of very few projects on public-private-partnership (PPP) being bagged by highway developers.

After the last meeting this month with banks P Chidambaram has initiated them to highlight the funded projects which are stuck due to clearances. GoaĆāKundapur h’way to be upgraded at Rs 2,600 cr
By spending Rs 2,600 crore the Kundapur-Goa National Highway is going to be upgraded into four-lane road. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and IRB Infrasgtructure Developers have signed an agreement to convert the NH 17 from the present two-lane to four-lane highway. IRB has sought a grant of Rs 536.22 crore from NHAI to execute the project.
HC lifts stay on Sector 56 road project in Gurgaon
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has now started working on a road project near a prominent private school in Sector 56. HUDA has started the work of calculating budget for the road that goes along the private school.
