The National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) project of four-laning of Khed-Sinnar Section of NH-50 has been bagged by the IL&FS Transportation Networks. The stretch is in Maharashtra. The project work is from Km 42.000 to Km 177.000 (Design Length - 137.946 km) under the Phase IV B in Maharashtra on DBFOT basis.

IDA’s plea to State govt to reconsider LIG link road width
Unable to get sufficient land and remove encroachments coming in the way of proposed LIG link road, Indore Development Authority (IDA) has once again sent a request to the Madhya Pradesh government for reconsidering to keep width of road to 18 metre against 24 metre as proposed in the master plan.
GMR ready to re-take road project if govt cuts premium
GMR Infrastructure now says that it is ready to take up the 555-km Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway project again if there is a cut in the initial premium it owes to the government. GMR had withdrawn from the Rs 5,700 crore highway project owing to inconsistencies on environment clearance.
Toll rates hiked on Ernakulam-Thrissur national h’way
In Kerala, the Guruvayur Infrastructure, a joint venture company responsible for toll collection and road maintenance on the Mannuthi-Edappally stretch of the National Highway has hiked the toll rates being charged from motorists at the Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur on March 27. The toll hike has taken place despite strong public protests.
Now, Delhi to have one-legged elevated roads
In a first, 24.2 metre-wide elevated roads will be constructed in Delhi on a single narrow column using the single-pier technique. In this, six lanes of traffic will move on top, while four lanes will be open at the ground level as well. These elevated flyways are being built on outer Ring Road and Ring Road, and will help avoid traffic congestion at the ground level, say officials.
Bangalore’s Bannerghatta road to be widened soon
The iconic stone structure at the main entrance of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) will soon make way for a road widening project on Bannerghatta Road. The widening of the Bannerghatta-NICE Road stretch has been approved by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) recently.
MMRDA to spend Rs 622 cr on road infra in Thane dist
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will spend Rs 622 crore on the extended Mumbai urban infrastructure projects, mainly in Thane district. It will build six flyovers, a creek-bridge at Vasai between Naigaon and Bhayendar and over 90-km of road network in Vasai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Ambernath, Karjat , Badlapur and Arnala.
Centre to set up road regulatory authority
Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on March 28 announced the proposal to set up a road regulatory authority to address issues such as financial stress, construction risk and contract management in the sector.
The Minister said the independent regulatory authority will be set up in 2014 to address all issues faced by the road sector.
Kerala opposes development of 5 NHs
The Kerala government is not willing to develop five National Highways (NH) in the state that are included in the National Highway Development Project (NHDP) Phase IVA and imposing toll on them. The State has informed the same to the Union government.
Widening of key highway started in Srinagar
Gearing up to fulfill his commitment of bringing an end to traffic jams at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar, a key highway stretch to south Kashmir, District Development Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Shah on March 27 got widening work started, an official spokesman said. He said the DDC directed to take up the widening work in the Sempora stretch, which witnesses frequent traffic jams.
