The railway board is considering introducing paperless ticketing on Central Railway (CR) along with Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and Cash/Coin Ticket Vending Machines (CTVM) for Mumbai suburban trains next month. Paperless daily tickets have already been introduced by the Western Railway (WR) on July 8 and were to be introduced by the CR in August. After a delay, the issue is now resolved. ´The railway board has said that it doesn´t make sense to launch the paperless ticket application on CR and then ATVMs as well as CTVMs one after the other and has asked us to hold off on the launch of the application and instead do the entire ticketing launch all at once. Hence, we may see the launch at the end of September while it was initially to be done by August end,´ said a senior railway official.
