Govt clears MIAL, Delhi Aerocity projects

The Mumbai International Airport project and the Delhi Aerocity project of huge hotel capacity in Delhi were cleared by the Centre on July 31. The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) ordered Delhi Police to address issues related to area security and Delhi International Airport (DIAL) will be free to hire guards for perimeter security in and around the airport.

This would also apply to the Mumbai airport, where Mumbai Police and Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) would do accordingly.

Built on a 43-acre parcel, Delhi Aerocity project was considered a security risk because of its proximity to the runway. The total investment in Aerocity is around Rs 8,000 crore, which will add an inventory of about 5,100 rooms spread across 16 hotels.
