It is not everyday that we look inward and celebrate ourselves: Just this time.
We thought you would appreciate us more if you knew that Infrastructure Today stands 20th on a list of 25 Honourable Mentions for Best Single Issue in the world—the only Indian publication in that list. The prestigious Tabbie Award, which calls itself the “Grammys of b2b Publishing”, goes to our Anniversary Issue (July 2010).
The issue (titled “Infra-Governance: Taking Stock”) included articles by and interviews with prominent policymakers and practitioners. It featured infrastructure governance issues one year into the UPA's second term because of which the sheen on infrastructure projects was beginning to wear off to show the true colour—implementation blues. Today, those chinks in the armour have exposed themselves to a far greater extent, manifesting themselves in targets unmet and promises unfulfilled.
The Tabbie Awards (from the New York-based Trade Associations Business Publications International or TABPI) are given away to the best editorial and designs, and encourage a common dedication to editorial ethics and excellence. This year, they featured nearly 400 entries, with nominations from the US, Canada, the UK, India, New Zealand and South Africa. “Judges were once again impressed by the quality of the submissions,” the awarding authorities said.
Last year, our sister publication, Construction World, won a recognition in the same category. Another of our publications, CW Interiors, won the only Honourable Mention this year in the Front Cover Special Issue design category.
