Similar to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Kolkata to have driverless trains on the upcoming metro lines, including the East-West corridor for which some of the rakes have arrived. In driverless technology, the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system equips the metro trains to run without human intervention. At least for a year, the East-West corridor will have drivers to build confidence in passengers, including the other corridors. Besides, the new stations will have platform screen doors, which will be integrated with the automatic CBTC software.
