Logistics corridor likely in few years

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is starting a massive exercise to diagnose the deficiencies in the infrastructure and system. It will come up with solutions for seamless movement of big carriers or trailers on the highways that connect six-seven major ports such as JNPT in Mumbai, Kandla and Haldia, besides key manufacturing hubs.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake the new exercise named Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Programme (LEEP), which is financed by the World Bank.
The exercise gains importance considering the fact that while trucks in India cover around 300 kms a day, in BRICS countries on an average they travel more than 500 kms.
