Nashik’s Trimbak Road to get 8.5 km cycle track

For easy pedalling of cyclists the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) plans to develop an 8.5 km bicycle track along Trimbak Road in the city by spending Rs 25 crore. The work includes widening of the road and the bicycle tract will be the first such track in the city.

NMC will develop more cycle tracks along arterial roads in the city depending on the success of the project. The track will begin from Hotel Rajdoot near Golf Club ground and will end on the boundary of the civic limits on Trimbak Road. The track is to be developed as one of the several works that the civic administration is to undertake through deferred payment.

The bicycle track project that includes the track as well as road widening is estimated to cost Rs 25 crore and expected to be completed next year. Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Khandare said that normally, there is a rush of four-wheelers and motorcycles on the roads.

But there is no separate way for workers, students and other citizens using bicycles. So NMC decided to develop a 8.5 km-long cycle track along the Trimbak road on an experimental basis. The work will begin soon, he added.
