Only guidelines will be formulated by the Rangarajan panel, appointed by the Union government on the premium rescheduling of road projects. The task of implementing the guidelines rests with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), say sources in the government.
The panel is headed by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan. The panel will submit its report on the issue by this month end. It will restructure the premium paid by the highway developers.
The panel will look at individual projects, will prepare a framework, regulations and lay down the parameters which NHAI Board will take up.
