The Patna high Court has on May 16 asked the Bihar Urban Development Department to identify the Pervious Cement Concrete (PCC) roads laid with higher concrete top than their original level in violation of a court order. The court had directed the government to maintain the original level of the roads during the road construction. A division bench of Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Shivaji Pandey also directed the State Chief Secretary to fix responsibility of the officials and engineers concerned for such violation and take action against them.

The court also asked the secretary to restore the original heights of all roads in urban areas. The order was passed on a PIL of Prashant Kumar and others who submitted that due to raising the road level, rainwater gushes into the houses causing hellish condition of the people. The court directed the additional advocate general, Pushkar Narayan Sahi, to furnish to the high court registry the emails of all the district magistrates of the state so that the court order could be mailed to them. Patna DM and road construction department chief engineer were present before the court when the order was passed.

The same bench directed the chief secretary to state on affidavit how the people have to litigate in courts in the matter relating to construction of temples on roads. There is already a Supreme Court guideline to stop construction of religious structures on roads.
