Arvind Prasad is Managing Director of Ushdev International, the second largest private sector trading company in India and also a considerable player in wind power generation. His career, spanning around 28 years across different domains, has brought out his inherent leaÂdership qualities and his flair for quick as well as accurate decision making.
Prasad, a B Tech in Electrical Engineering (Power) from the IIT Madras. At the threshold of his career, Prasad joined HVOC, where he worked for six years as Deputy Manager in Delhi and Kanpur.
For the next 13 years he climbed the corporate ladder at Thermax from Service Manager to Area Manager to Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing in four different locations across the country.
At Thermax he wore multiple hats, serving as a strategic business unit (SBU) head of a Rs 350 million business controlling its new business development, heading product marketing groups for all standard engineering products, leading a team of professional engineers and overseeing sales and service support. With Vestas India in Chennai he served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for six years where he achieved a turnover of Rs 18 billion for 2008-09 while maintaining a year on year above industry business growth rate. As VP – Business Development and Marketing for ACME Telepower in Gurgaon, he signed MoUs for 800 MW with various solar power developers and created their project pipeline for 25 MW.
