In Nashik city, 15 major roads will be resurfaced soon. The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on August 22 approved a proposal in this regard. The NMC had proposed to resurface the 15 roads after the monsoon and has finalised private contractors for the road work. NMC Standing committee chairman Ramesh Dhongade said that the committee approved the proposal to resurface the 15 roads at a cost of around Rs 14 crore.
Roads should be resurfaced after every four to five years as per the rules, but the NMC did not resurface any road over the past 12-15 years. According to the building and construction department of the NMC, the resurfacing of roads had not been undertaken by the NMC due to lack of funds.
The roads which are to be resurfaced include road from Sharanpur Road to CBS at a cost of Rs 1.92 crore, road from Capital Foods to Ambad property tax office of the municipal corporation in Ambad industrial estate at a cost of Rs 1.08 crore, road from the sewage treatment plant at Untawadi to Hire Farm at a cost of Rs 60.47 lakh and the road from Tidke colony to Koyran bungalow in Karmayogi Nagar in Prabhag no. 41 at a cost of Rs 1.36 crore.
