The Centre has given special economic zone (SEZ) approvals as co-developers to GEMS Modern Academy and to the IT project of Maratt Limited at SmartCity Kochi. GEMS Education is building a school of international standards on an eight-acre plot at SmartCity. It will offer the CBSE curriculum. The project will have a built-up area of 2.5 lakh sq ft that can host over 3,000 children. Now that it has received the SEZ co-developer status, the Bangalore-based realty major Maratt Limited will accelerate the development of its three lakh square feet facility for IT companies.
