SMC to finalise City Square project

The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will be finialising a city square project, where a business hub along with recreational facilities will be planned on 33,700 sq m of land at Kharwarnagar junction.

Based on a public-private partnership in two phases, SMC plans to develop the projectÂ’s first phase on 12,000 sq m of land available with the civic body, while the second phase will come up on 21,600 sq m of land that belongs to the state government. The possibility of development of a huge business district exists because of Floor Space Index (FSI) of 4.00, under the General Development Control Regulation.

The site where the city square will come up lies 500 sq m from Central zone, Limbayat and Udhna zone and the metro rails, BRTS and other modes of transport will connect it to Umra, West zone and Varachha areas of the city. Also, it will promote social, cultural, business and commercial activities.
