A comprehensive road development project has been taken up to improve the overall condition of Hyderabad city roads, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stated. The first phase of the project is to be initiated at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore.
Road repairs in Hyd to be given to contractors
Maintenance of about 500 km length of roads in Hyderabad would soon be outsourced by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). In the first phase, main roads will be given for annual maintenance contract and would be extended to other roads in the later phases if it yields good results.
Civic body to take over R&B roads in Hyderabad
The Andhra Pradesh government will soon issue a government order (GO) for handing over Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department's roads to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by creating a separate division, said GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on November 5.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been severely criticised by the MIM floor leader in State Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi on October 21 for not taking up road widening works in the city on priority basis. He pointed out that land rates in the city have increased four times since its proposal of road widening.

Hyderabad civic body sets Oct 10 as deadline to repair roads
To repair potholed damaged roads in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set a deadline of October 10 for its engineers and contractors concerned. GHMC has estimated the repairs to cost Rs 15 crore. Forts it will take all the main corridors and main city roads immediately for the repair works. Later, inner lanes and by-lanes will be taken up.
GHMC proposes Rs 870 cr road works, civic projects
In Hyderabad, Rs 870 crore civic projects have been proposed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). GHMC had bagged the projects under the phase-I (2005-2012) of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The State-level committee on JNNURM works cleared the proposals for these projects recently and the project proposals would be sending to the Union Ministry for Urban Development soon.
