New coal, O&G policies in Nagaland
Nagaland has enforced new Coal Policy and Coal Mining Rules. Toward this, the Department of Geology and Mining has issued 17 coal mining leases and 9 small pocket deposit licences to individuals and coal companies. So far, 17 mineral check gates at various exits, two weigh bridges and a rest house have been constructed, according to the annual administrative report of the department tabled in the state assembly.
Kohima’s places to be connected by cable cars
Nagaland capital Kohima city's parts are going to be connected by cable cars by ferrying people from one place to the other in the city. The project will be implemented in association with a local partner under the guidance of architect Alfredo Brillembourg, who chairs architecture and urban design at the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Road re-construction works taken up in Dimapur
In Nagaland's Dimapur, the State government has ordered to take up improvement works and reconstruction of roads from Tragopan police point to City Tower and from City Tower to DC Court.
Kohima roads to be repaired on President’s visit
As President Pranab Mukharjee is scheduled to visit the Nagaland's capital Kohima, authorities concerned are gearing up to give a facelift to the roads. The city's roads were in a sorry state. With the President geared to visit and take some of the disabling routes that connect Kohima city, and the city to other districts, work to touch some of them up has been promised to begin.
Temporary bridge for Dimapur area in Nagaland
Nagaland's Public Works Department Dimapur Division has provided a temporary bridge between Darogajan and Purana Bazar in Dimapur area. The officials concerned said the concrete bridge there was collapsed on last September 10 following heavy floods.
Plea for restoration of Chouzuba-Phek road
In Nagaland, the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Phek has requested the government authority concerned to clear landslide on Chouzuba-Phek road and restore the road for traffic immediately.
Public cooperation sought for road works in Nagaland
Nagaland Commissioner and Secretary Home and Works & Housing Temjen Toy, on August 1 admitted that the works and housing (Roads & Bridges) department has not been able to maintain roads due to financial and other factors but at the same time, reminded public of their role in extending cooperation for the greater interest of all.
Nagaland road stretch on NH 29 to shut for BRO work
In Nagaland, the Phesama and Kisama stretch of National Highway (NH)-29 would be completely cut off for a week starting August 2 as Border Road Organisation (BRO) has decided to give its serious effort to completely restore the stretch. The same stretch of the road near Kisama, Naga Heritage village cut off due to a massive landslide on July 12 but it was open for some time for small vehicles.
Alternative road to Mokokchung-Dimapur in Nagaland okayed
The Mokokchung district administration in Nagaland has approved an alternative road from Mokokchung to Dimapur which would pass through Mangmetong village in Mokokchung district, Sanis in Wokha district and to Dimapur. The project was approved in the monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board held on June 7.
