Road developers not keen despite govt’s initiatives
IndiaÂ’s highway construction policy has reached a dead end in meeting the targeted 20 km of road a day. This has been indicated as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has drawn a blank in auctions of road stretches this year.
India widens its 14,000 km highways into 4-lanes
About 14,000 km length of National Highways has been converted into four lanes during the last ten years i.e. 2004 to 2012 by National Highways Authority of India, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Tushar A Chaudhary stated in the Rajya Sabha recently.
NHAI’s plea to collector to repair roads
In Kochi city, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now sent a notice to the Ernakulam district collector and appealed him to repair works in areas where Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has dug up roads.

Stating that toll collected from commuters is for maintenance of the respective roads, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has stated that it would start collecting toll at Brahmarakootlu between Mangalore and BC Road from December 5. The NHAI has issued a notification to this effect.

Bhubaneswar plans flyover in mishap zone
To ease traffic burden on the highway stretch between Kolathia Square and Khandagiri Square in Bhubaneswar, the city police have discussed with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and proposed to build a flyover on the stretch. The development takes place following an accident on December 1, om which three were killed.
