8 Projects of 1144 kms were on bid on the 28th and 30th of March 2012. Seven projects got premium and in the remaining one case, the quoted amount was much lower than the expected bid. These bids gave a NPV saving of Rs 6451 Crores.

Gammon gets NHAI project
Gammon Infrastructure Projects (GIPL) has bagged a Rs 1,684 crore project from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening Vijaywada-Gundugolanu section of National Highway in Andhra Pradesh. GIPL has got the order on BOT (Toll) mode.The project will be built on design, build, finance,operate and transfer basis.
GQ projects by 2012
The Union government is expecting to complete the road work, taken up under the Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) projects, by December 2012.Work on four-laning and six-laning of roads has been completed in 5,829 km in the country.The work progress is being monitored closely by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)and striving to speed up the work.
IIFCL project advisory arm
India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL) operationalised its wholly owned project advisory subsidiary.The new subsidiary IIFCL Projects Ltd will provide advisory services not only to project developers, but also to various state governments and organisations like the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).This subsidiary will be involved from the initial stage of a project and up to the award of a project.
Bids worth Rs 20k cr invited for highways
The Union government has invited bids worth Rs 20,000 crore,to widen 2,000 km of highways, opening up a big opportunity for companies such as L&T, GMR,Reliance Infrastructure and Gammon.This has helped the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) inch closer to its target.
