The Jammu and Kashmir government began a review of the terms and conditions governing the power projects constructed and run by it in the state.A cabinet sub-committee reflected on the purchase of two major projects, Uri and Salal, from the NHPC, for which it needs Rs 2,000 crore, according to official sources.

NHPC to raise Rs 2,000-cr debt
NHPC will raise Rs 2,000 crore debt in the next five months by issuing bonds and term loans in the domestic market. The debt was required to fund the company's plans to add 678 MW in the current financial year.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the Hydro Electric Project Development Policy 2011 to harness huge hydel potential of 20,000 MW.
NHPC, OHPC JV to set up 320 MW hydel units
NHPC and Orissa Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) have formed a joint venture (JV) to build three hydro power projects with a total capacity of 320 mw at an estimated cost of Rs 2600 crore in the state.
