Nagaland's Public Works Department Dimapur Division has provided a temporary bridge between Darogajan and Purana Bazar in Dimapur area. The officials concerned said the concrete bridge there was collapsed on last September 10 following heavy floods.

Rs 100 cr needed to repair Kolhapur roads: PWD
In Maharashtra's Kolhapur district, the recent rains have damaged 850 km of roads. Now the Public Works Department (PWD) has estimated a requirement of Rs 100 crore to repair the roads. The roads in rural areas of the district's western parts have been badly damaged.
Varanasi roads to get a makeover soon
In Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh, the Public Works Department (PWD) has taken up repair and renovation works on the city roads as digging work by utility companies like UP Jal Nigam is complete. Especially, digging work is complete on five main roads in the city.
Uttarakhand gives high priority to road repairs
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repair and maintenance of roads in the state. The prolonged monsoon and heavy rains caused extensive damage to the roads and now as the monsoon had come to an end, the maintenance and repair of roads should be taken on priority, the Chief Minister said.
Stalling of Chennai port road project will impact TN: official
In Tamil Nadu, the Rs 1,815-crore Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated link road was conceived for speedy evacuation of containers from Maduravoyal and now it has been stalled by the State Public Works Department stating there was a deviation in the alignment from the approved project. Stopping of the project will have a very big impact on Tamil Nadu and the countryÂ’s economy, cautioned Vijay Chhibber, Secretary, Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Repairs taken up on damaged roads in Kochi: PWD
In Kochi, steps have been taken to repair damaged roads including the Edappally-BTS Road and Vennala -Arakkakkadavu-Edapally Road, State Public Works Department (PWD) told the Kerala High Court. The PWD told this to the high court in an affidavit filed in response to a petition filed by Shine Joseph of Thattampadi and MK Pratheesh of Koonammavu against the failure of the government to repair roads in various parts of the State.
Two civic bodies in Odisha to build plastic roads
Now two civic bodies in Odisha-Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are to construct roads by using the recycled plastic. By doing so, the the government plans to get rid of the twin cities of plastic waste. Such plastic incorporated roads are also said to be more durable, especially to withstand the rainy season damages.
Karnataka to spend more on road maintenance
The Karnataka government has taken note of the bad condition of the roads in the State and assured its Public Works Department (PWD) to provide more funds to repair and maintain them. PWD constructs and maintain majority of roads in the state. Since a long time the State PWD had been facing paucity of funds for road works.
PWD to maintain Murikkumpadaom-Belbo University Raod
In Kerala, the State government's Public Works Department has been entrusted the maintenance of
Murikkumpadaom-Belbo University Raod at Elamkunnapuzha, near Kochi. The State government took the decision by taking the failure of the local authorities to maintain the road. Even the State Human Rights Commission had complained in this regard. The PWD has estimated the cost of restoration of the road at Rs 1 crore.
Repairs begin on Puthiyakavu road in Kochi
In Kochi, repairs have been started on Tripunithura SN Junction-PuthiyaÂkavu road by the State Public Works Department. The road was dug up for Kerala Water Authority works. And it has turned into a nightmarish expÂerÂience to both motorists and pedestrians alike. EmergenÂcy pothole filling work too is in progress after which the 4-km stretch will be resurfaced.
