Tata’s Ginger Hotels among bidders for rail complexes
Ginger Hotels of the Tata Group is among the bidders for the projects of the Rail Land Development Authority's (RLDA) 15 multi-functional complexes (MFCs) out of 43 MFCs offered for development this year till now. RLDA is a statutory authority established by the Union Ministry of Railways for generating non-fare revenue from railway land.
Tata firms in West Bengal to expand
In West Bengal, Tata Group is on an expansion mode after the Singur debacle. Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry could be right in saying the Tatas have never left West Bengal. The group's major investments in Bengal are from Tata Metaliks, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Indian Hotels and Tata Hitachi. At the moment, TCS, Indian Hotels and Tata Hitachi are in an expansion mode, sources said.
Brand matters for AirAsia in India
Aviation experts suggest that AirAsia, in tie-up with Tata group, utilise the brand reputation of the top Indian business organisation. Apart from its international success, AirAsia is going for its tie up with the Tatas in India. Jagdeep Kapoor, Chairman & Managing Director, Samsika Marketing Consultants, suggests using this tie-up in the company's identity building.
India okays AirAsia’s JV with Tata
Paving the way for the first foreign carrier to enter the Indian domestic aviation sector, AirAsia BhdÂ’s proposal to set up an airline jointly with the Tata group was approved on March 6 by the Indian governmentÂ’s foreign investment regulator. MalaysiaÂ’s AirAsia, the largest budget carrier in Asia, plans to launch a regional airline in India with an initial investment of 800 million rupees to cash in on rising demand for domestic air travel among IndiaÂ’s rapidly expanding middle class.
Air Asia, Tata JV seeks nod for aircraft leasing
For renting and leasing of aircraft, besides carrying of air freight Air Asia and Tata Group have sought approval from the government. The two firms, along with Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace, have proposed to set up a domestic airline. According to sources, in its application to the FIPB, the partners have also sought permission for engaging in ancillary activities.
