Planning Commission member BK Chaturvedi has said that the Union government would set up a green corridor to generate power from solar and wind capacities that were established at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore, Planning Commission member BK Chaturvedi. The National Action Plan on Climate Change has recommended that India generate 10 per cent of its power needs from solar, wind, hydropower and other renewable sources by 2015, and an additional 5 per cent by 2020.

Centre allots Rs 1,300 cr to Post Bank of India
For the proposed Post Bank of India, the Union government has decided to sanction Rs 1,300 crore to meet its capital requirements. Although Post Bank does not intend to open a bank branch in each post office, the plan is to use postmen to meet the financial inclusion goal. According to the plan, Post Bank will have 50 branches in the first year, which will be increased to 150 by the fifth year. Mineral production in May higher than April: Govt
The Union government says that the index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector in May 2013 was higher by 1.6 per cent compared to that of the preceding month. The mineral sector has shown a negative growth of 5.7 per cent during May 2013 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year. The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during May 2013 was Rs 18,074 crore.

Funds sanctioned to build 3,500 km roads in Maha, Gujarat

AAI to finalise sites of low-cost airports in Punjab

Manipur govt mulls to widen all key roads in state
The Manipur government has sent a proposal to the Union government for upgradation of Jiribam-Churachandpur Road and widen all important roads in the state, the State Works Minister Kh Ratankumar said. The Minister was speaking as chief guest at a foundation laying ceremony for an RCC Bridge which is to be constructed over Khuga River to connect Lamjangphai and Thingchom in Churachandpur district on June 6.
