In Chandigarh, the drive to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGI) and Punjab Engineering College (PEC) will no longer be a bumpy ride as the Chandigarh civic body has given the road analysis project to Punjab Engineering College (PEC).

The PEC’s finding of the project revealed that road has a technical defect and solution lies in converting it into concrete. This is the first time that Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has involved PEC in an engineering work related to a road.

PEC is yet to submit its final report but its finding clearly state that the road should be made of concrete rather than bitumen. Till date the city has only two concrete roads – dividing road of sectors 31/32 and dividing road of Sector 39 and Maloya. If everything goes according to the plan then this will be the third road of the city to be made of concrete.
