Reports suggest that the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) is set to achieve higher throughput of container cargo in 2012-13 compared to last year.

So far in 2012-13, the terminal handled over 1-million Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) of throughput. In another two months, the terminal may handle more container cargo and hence it is likely to exceed the 1.03 million TEU container cargo handling achieved in 2011-12.

Some of the other achievements of the terminal or Port during the fiscal are: JNPCT handled 1.20 million TEU in calendar year 2012, an all-time high, JN Port handled the biggest container vessel thus far—the 9,000-TEU MSC ARICA.
