In Bangalore, the MG Road boulevard which is being reconstructed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) will be thrown open to public by the end of this April. The boulevard with two-tier walkway is receiving finishing touches with inspection and maintenance checks being carried out by engineers and BMRCL authorities.
The walkway that is decked up with 15 to 20 varieties of bougainvillea and other decorative flowering plants is being presently monitored by the workers. To keep a tab on visitors, the number of security personnel at the boulevard will be increased from the existing five to 10 once it is inaugurated, sources said.
Construction of ‘hi-tech’ public toilets at the two ends of the boulevard has been completed. For public convenience, shopping space, gallery, museum, children play area and fountains have been created.
The BMRCL earlier had promised that the work would be completed by December 2012. The old boulevard, which was the pride of the City, was known for its pleasant ambience. BMRCL wanted the newly one to be of the same standards and much better in terms of facilities, said BMRCL spokesperson BL?Yashwant Chavan.
