In Indore, the Madhya Pradesh Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed the bhoomi pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) for an 80-feet wide road from Marimata square to the railway overbridge — a distance of roughly 2.5 km — on Wednesday. The MP Road Development Corporation is providing Rs 22.36 crore for the road widening work, expected to be completed within three months.

Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, local MLA Sudershan Gupta said bhoomi pujan for a 100-bed government hospital proposed near Baneshwari Kund would be performed shortly.

He said the road would help facilitate movement of pilgrims arriving for Simhastha 2016 and would also lend a fillip to commercial activities in the area.
