Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav laid foundation stone for infrastructural projects worth over Rs 3,300 crore. These include Rs 2,200 crore roads and bridges projects, besides power transmission and distribution projects worth over Rs 1,100 crore.
Speaking to reporters after laying foundation, Yadav promised that his government would go full throttle in completing these projects.
The projects are being seen with significance in wake of the Lok Sabha elections which are due next year. Akhilesh said from now there will be regular initiation and completion of projects and added that this will continue for the next four years of his tenure.
Yadav dedicated 71 long bridge worth Rs 328.9 crore, 10 small bridges worth over Rs 14 crore and three railway over-bridges (ROBs) worth around Rs 48 crore to public.
The chief minister also laid the foundation stone of road/bridge projects worth about Rs 1,882 crore. These include eight long bridges, 11 small bridges, one ROB, 16 road widening and strengthening worth Rs 878 crore and 11 schemes for Indo-Nepal border road projects.
The roads connecting the state headquarters will be four-lane. Likewise, 1,300 km of roads will be two-lane. Of this, work on the 650 km of roads will start this year while another 650 km will be initiated next year, Yadav said.
