Adani Group in Australia is now aiming to venture into power transmission business. Adani is into coal mining and port operations in Australia and now the Group’s Australian arm Adani Mining Pty Ltd has proposed the State government of Queensland to invest $300 million for 250 km long transmission network in the central Galilee Basin where it is promoting coal mining and other infrastructure projects.
In Australia’s Queensland area, Adani group enjoys strong presence and there it is developing a 60 million tonne per annum thermal coal mine in the north of Galilee Basin.
The company has proposed the government of Queensland to commission Galilee Transmission Grid by end of 2015 subject to the approvals from the authorities concerned. It will supply electricity to the company’s Carmichael coal mine and connect emerging and existing mines besides catering to surrounding industrial, commercial and residential customers in the Northern Galilee Basin, Adani Group said.
