Solar Energy Policy has been approved by the Kerala Cabinet. The policy seeks to increase installed capacity of the solar sector to 500 mw by 2017 and 1,500 mw by 2030. The mission is to contribute to long-term energy security of the State as well as ecological security by reduction in carbon emissions.
The draft policy had been posted on the website of the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in Thiruvananthapuram. Comments received from stakeholders, including the general public, have been incorporated to the final document.
