The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has increased the capital expenditure on roads by almost 62 per cent to Rs 2,500 crore in 2014-15. However, it hopes to spend Rs 1,016 crore, or just about two-thirds of the budget estimate.
For the first time, a master plan for road and traffic for the coming three years has been prepared. According to the plan, roads totalling 1,239 km are proposed to be improved at an approximate cost of Rs 7,774 crore.
