The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised its Delhi State Annual Session and a business conference. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, inaugurated the business conference. He said, “The upcoming GST will be a tsunami of tax reforms and the small medium sector of Delhi might struggle to understand its fundamentals.”

Sisodia said, “It would be beneficial for the common man of Delhi if CII and the Delhi Government can open a 24-hour call centre which can be a one-stop for all answers on GST. He added, “It is the responsibility of Delhi’s industry to tell the government about what kind of vocational training courses should the government design. Industry should do a detailed study on what skills would be required 5 years and 10 years down the line, so that the government can work towards providing the required manpower.”
He suggested that for gaps to be bridged in industrial development of the state, engaging with industry is required to understand their needs and concerns.

Yogendra Yadav, President – Swaraj India said, “MCD has a lot of revenue streams which they are not utilising properly. MCD should give grants to the Resident Welfare Associations of Delhi so that they do the upkeep of their colonies on their own. Segregation of solid waste is a huge problem and not much is being done about it. If this continues, Delhi’s groundwater will soon become poisonous.”
