Man Infra Construction Ltd (MICL) has announced the inauguration of the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) Phase II at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, marking a major milestone in India’s maritime infrastructure.

The terminal, developed under a public-private partnership, was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries on September 5.

Constructed by MICL, BMCT Phase II is now India’s largest standalone container port. The facility spans 110 hectares and features a 2,000-metre quay with a handling capacity of 4.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Designed with advanced green and multimodal infrastructure, the terminal is expected to significantly enhance trade efficiency and global connectivity.

“We are proud to have successfully constructed the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Phase II, a flagship project that elevates India’s position on the global maritime stage,” said Manan P Shah, Managing Director, MICL Group. “This milestone reflects MICL’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovation and sustainable infrastructure development.”

The project was awarded to MICL in June 2023 through a competitive tender. Its completion reinforces the company’s long-term role in shaping India’s maritime corridors and logistics capabilities.

Headquartered in Mumbai, MICL operates across the twin verticals of construction and real estate development. The company reported consolidated total income of ₹13.6 billion and net profit of ₹3 billion for the last financial year, and remains net cash positive at the consolidated level as of March 2025.
