The games highlight the oil and gas fraternity’s commitment to platforms that recognise ability, uphold dignity, and foster workplace inclusiveness.

ONGC on Wednesday launched the 7th ONGC Para Games 2026 at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi, with participation from around 300 athletes with disabilities from eight oil and gas public sector units (PSUs).

Hosted by ONGC—India’s largest oil and gas producer—the games reflect the oil and gas fraternity’s shared commitment to creating enabling platforms that recognise ability, promote dignity, and strengthen inclusiveness in the workplace. Athletes from ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, GAIL, OIL and MRPL are participating in the event.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony, Pankaj Kumar, Director of Production, ONGC, said, “The ONGC Para Games reflect our collective commitment across oil PSUs to recognise and celebrate the special abilities of our colleagues. In a sector like ours, where teamwork, precision and resilience are vital, inclusion is not just a value but a strength that enriches organisational performance. The participants here give us the courage and motivation to challenge ourselves, and we are here to learn from their resilience and spirit.”

Rajarshi Gupta, Managing Director, OVL, applauded the determination and spirit of the para‑athletes, noting that true strength lies in perseverance and continuous effort. Manish Patil, Director of Human Resources, ONGC, highlighted that sports help shape character and serve as a powerful enabler of inclusivity and participation. He added that the continued growth of the Para Games since 2017 demonstrates how inclusive initiatives can build confidence, belonging and aspiration.

The 2026 edition features competitions in track and field events, badminton, table tennis and wheelchair races across diverse para‑sport classifications, including hearing and speech impairment, upper and lower limb conditions, visual impairment and wheelchair categories. Several national and international para‑sportspersons are also participating in the games.
