Contractors in Kerala who failed to repair roads, that are damaged before the guarantee period, will be blacklisted, the Kerala government has said. Ports and Fisheries Minister K Babu asked contractors to repair the roads at the earliest. The minister also directed authorities to complete the rehabilitation of people who have suffered losses in the landslide at Kadvoor near Kothamangalam last year.
Kochi District Collector PI Sheik Pareeth said the land for the purpose has already been identified. Each of the 10 families will be provided 50 cents each and the matter will be settled in 10 days. The minister said the government was planning to give the district collector the power to cut trees if there are any safety issues.
According to officials, around 400 families have been staying in four relief camps at Chellanam. Earlier in the day, State Chief Secretary EK Bharat Bhushan also held a meeting with officials of various departments to review steps taken to the address the monsoon fury.
