The Kerala government has decided to go ahead with preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for the high speed rail corridor connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod trains speeding more than 200 km an hour.Though there were doubts about the feasibility of the project, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which conducted the feasibility study, has given a positive report.

Rail service in Arunachal
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is planning to flag off the first train service from Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh on 12 December.This will include Arunachal Pradesh in the railway map of the country.The NFR authorities assured that railway service from Naharlagun will begin on the scheduled date after an aerial recce of the ongoing projects.
Minor airports in Karnataka
Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj informed that minor airports at Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bijapur and Hassan were being developed on public-private-partnership basis.The airports at Gulbarga and Shimoga would be operational by July.
Kannur airport project gets land
Kerala government hopes to complete the Kannur airport project on schedule as it has secured land for the project from Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (KINFRA).The first phase of the project would be completed by 2014 and the first flight is expected to land at Kannur airport in 2015.
ILS for Gannavaram airport
Officials of Gannavaram airport are awaiting clearance from Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the commissioning of the Instrument landing system (ILS).A calibration aircraft landed at Gannavaram airport to calibrate the functioning of ILS and the officials will submit a report to DGCA.
Railways mull industrial corridor
In order to improve transportation of minerals from Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to other parts of the country, Indian Railways plans to lay a dedicated industrial rail corridor at an estimated cost of Rs 40,000 crore.At a high level meeting to review progress of rail infrastructure, the Rail Minister, Dinesh Trivedi approved the project.

Orissa clears Rs 70 cr logistics park project
Orissa’s State level single window clearance authority has approved the setting up of a logistics park at Kalinga Nagar steel hub proposed by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).The logistics park would come up on an area of 30 acres in the industrial cluster at an investment of Rs 70 crore.
AAI to install advanced surveillance system
In a move that would improve air surveillance system, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to commission a new Automatic Dependent SurÂveiÂllance-Broadcast (ADS-B) system at 14 airports in a year.Of the 14, six to seven airports will get the system by the middle of this year and the remaining airports would receive it by this year-end.
Adani, Baltimore ports join hands
Adani Port SEZ (APSEZ) has entered into an agreement with the US based Port of Baltimore for sharing of technology and promotion of trade between Adani’s ports and the US port.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both the ports would benefit Adani group owned ports in terms of technology upgradation or transfer from the US.
