As the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) commissioning its single-point mooring (SPM) system
at New Mangalore Port last week, the port's liquid cargo handling has been boosted. Single point mooring is an offshore facility that serves as a mooring point for tankers to discharge their cargoes. For now, MRPL is served by two berths at the port to handle crude oil and petroleum products.

Sadbhav Engineering has stated that step down subsidiary of the company Ahmedabad Ring Road Infrastructure (ARRIL), the Special Purpose Vehicle incorporated for undertaking of improvement and widening of then existing 2 Lane Sardar Patel Ring Road around Ahmedabad City to 4 lane carriageway, has received sanction of Rs 6,329.0 mn (FACILIY) including existing debt of Rs 3,799.0 mn towards securitisation of the project.
Nashik civic body invites Rs 10.7 cr bids for road works
For various road works in Nashik city, such as tarring, resurfacing, macadamization, etc, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has invited bids worth Rs 10.7 crore. The tenders include around 28 various road works in various parts of the city. The road contracts are to be done through private contractors and the last date for filing the bids is next October 3.
GHMC proposes Rs 870 cr road works, civic projects
In Hyderabad, Rs 870 crore civic projects have been proposed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). GHMC had bagged the projects under the phase-I (2005-2012) of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The State-level committee on JNNURM works cleared the proposals for these projects recently and the project proposals would be sending to the Union Ministry for Urban Development soon.
Delhi-Gurgaon e’way developer collects Rs 893 cr toll
The Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL), the company operating the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, has collected nearly Rs 900 crore from motorists. According to official figures submitted by the DGSCL, between February 2008 and July 2013, it collected only Rs 893 crore and NHAI got another Rs 77.5 crore as its share. NHAI officials, however, doubt the toll collection figure saying that the hand held devices used to collect toll at recently installed split plazas have not been integrated.
Widened Salem-Ulunderpet road cuts travel time by half
Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has complted widening of Salem-Ulundurpet road in Tamil Nadu and the company has begun collection of toll on the road.
Commuters can now travel on the 136 km stretch in less than two hours, which used to take over four hours earlier, Rinfra said.
Centre simplifies clearance for highways expansion
The clearance process for highways expansion has been simplified by the Union Environment Ministry. The simplification comes following intense pressure to speed up the process to aid infrastructure development including setting up townships and area-development projects. A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry recently.
Iron ore shipments from Australia up as China buys more
Cargoes including iron ore shipments from AustraliaĆās Port Hedland have increased to China in August. Hedland is worldĆās biggest bulk terminal. In August, exports totaled 27.4 million tonne from 26.6 million tonne in July and 22.8 million tonne a year earlier.
Govt shelves plan to infuse Rs 14K cr into State-run banks
The Union government is to wait for some more time to infuse Rs 14,000 crore into State-run banks, at least till the next quarter. The Union Finance Ministry has deferred the as it wants to assess the banks' needs after the second quarter results before pumping the cash to shore up their capital adequacy ratio (CAR).
Haldia Petrochemicals stake sale bids soon
For the stake sale of Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL), final price bids are expected to be submitted by mid September, according to officials with direct knowledge of the matter. Earlier, West Bengal government, which holds about 40 per cent stake in eastern IndiaĆās biggest petrochemical company had said it will select the final bidder by end of September. That looks almost impossible as bidders had raised issues with the share purchase agreement.
