Stalling of Chennai port road project will impact TN: official
In Tamil Nadu, the Rs 1,815-crore Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated link road was conceived for speedy evacuation of containers from Maduravoyal and now it has been stalled by the State Public Works Department stating there was a deviation in the alignment from the approved project. Stopping of the project will have a very big impact on Tamil Nadu and the countryĆās economy, cautioned Vijay Chhibber, Secretary, Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Proposal to stop toll collection on incomplete roads
A proposal has been made to the government to stop private developers from collecting toll on highway widening projects during the construction phase, if the project falls behind schedule. The proposal has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and it is being studied by the Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has suggested the Union Highways Ministry to see that the road project contracts are cancelled amicably than wasting time in trying to revive the projects. The Union government has approved Rs 992.61 crore valued 17 proposals of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The approvals have been made based on the recommendations of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in its meeting held on last July 29, 2013, the government reports said September 3.
TAPI gas pipeline to be ready on time: Pakistan
The construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline to be ready on time, within the stipulated time. Pakistan was bound to purchase gas from Iran by January 1, 2015. Despite a number of hurdles the Pakistan government was committed to complete the project within the stimulated period, Pakistan's Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told the National Assembly, the lower house of the Palistan Parliament.
Railways to develop fuel saving system for its locomotives
A highly fuel efficient, Common Rail Electronic Direct Fuel Injection (CReDI) system is to be developed by Indian Railways for its fleet of diesel locomotives. It is to alleviate the effect of rising fuel prices and increasing pollution from transport sector. The system is expected to save about Rs 500-600 crore annually on the railways fuel bill and reduce emissions by 30 per cent.
Rs 2,029 cr for 4-laning of Kaithal-Rajasthan border h’way
The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for four-laning of the Kaithal Rajasthan border section of National Highway-152/65 in Haryana under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase IV, on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (BOT/DBFOT) basis in Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) (Toll) mode of delivery.
Kanpur’s road median to be beautified at Rs 5 cr
In Kanpur, for beautification of road divider from Naronha to Gol Chauraha, the Uttar Pradesh government has released Rs 5 crore. The divider will be decorated with greenery by planting flower plants and herbs.
