24 highway projects fail to take off, seek bailout
Of the 27 high-density national highway corridor projects awarded two year back to road developers by the Centre, 24 sections have failed to take off due to different reasons, including delays in environmental clearances and land acquisition. The 24 sections of road projects worth a whopping Rs 34,000 crore and spans over 3,500 km. Road connectivity in U’khand to be restored in two months
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is working towards re-linking the Uttarakhand with the rest of the country and is hopeful of providing full connectivity to the Kedarnath shrine by September, the Union department Minister Oscar Fernandes. The restoration work has started but there are stretches where the entire road has been washed out, where new roads have to be build. This may go beyond one or two months, he added.
Malaysian CIDB interested to build Agra-Lucknow highway
To build the proposed Agra-Lucknow expressway, a Malaysian firm has come forward. The proposed expressway is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities by almost half. A delegation from MalaysiaĆās Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) met Uttar Pradesh government officials last week and expressed their interest in the multi-million-dollar project, an official said.
Landmarking procedure begins for key flyover in Kochi
Initial procedures for the flyover work at Edappally junction in Kochi has commenced. The landmarking procedures for the Edappally flyover construction has been started by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
According to DMRC, it has already started earmarking the area in and around the Edappally junction for the four-lane flyover construction.

A foot overbridge (FoB) is to come up at Hero Honda Chowk in Gurgaon to ease movement of thousands of pedestrians and two-wheeler drivers crossing the Chowk. Parama flyover in Kolkata likely to miss Dec deadline
In Kolkata, the Park Circus-Parama Island flyover, a crucial project under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), which was scheduled to be completed by August 2012, has now missed its revised deadline of August, 2013. There is no way it can meet its second amended deadline of December 2013. It is going to be city's longest flyover.
Haryana okays sanction of Rs 9 cr for Ynagar road works
Haryana government has approved Rs 9.37 crore to repair roads in Yamunanagar district that were damaged because of the recent rains. More than Rs. 1.87 crore will be spent on the construction of roads, cross-drainage structure and 60-metre side ramps on link road from Kaith Kalanour village to Lapra village, the State Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said in a release.

Vitthalwadi river bed road in Pune gets green tribunal nod
In Pune, a major hurdle has been cleared for construction of a 2.3-km road along the Mutha river bed from Vitthalwadi to the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass on National Highway-4. The National Green Tribunal on July 11 gave conditional approval to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to construct the road along the river. The tribunal said the conditions would bring about a balance between development and environment.
