India has sought an additional 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) from Saudi Arabia for 2012-13 as a replacement for a cut in supplies from sanctions-hit Iran.Saudi Arabia is the biggest oil supplier to India, the world’s fourth-biggest oil consumer, and is the only oil producer with significant spare capacity to replace any fall in supply from its regional rival Iran.

Mozambique gas Bharat Petroleum Corp and Videocon are riding high on a giant gas find in Mozambique, where their stakes are valued at $2 billion each, but both are keen to hang on to their holdings as the value is expected to grow, and they can ship the gas to India.
ONGC to speed up KG Basin work
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will accelerate work on a major oil and gas project in the Krishna Godavari basin by taking up works simultaneously with regard to exploration, development and seeking approvals from the government. ONGC has taken to production of both oil and gas from the KG Basin in a small way late in 2011.
Deepest platform to augment oil supply off-Mumbai
Essar Projects is completing ONGC’s D1 development project on a fast-track basis within 24 months on EPC by this month end.India’s farthest and deepest offshore platform is neaÂring completion on fast track,and is expected to go on-stream by the end of this month.
Gas cut to non-priority sectors
The government plans to further reduce gas supply to non-priority sectors to meet the demand of fertiliser and power plants that are suffering because output from Reliance’s D6 field has fallen sharply.Gas supply from the D6 block has already been
stopped for customers in sectors such as steel, refineries, metals and petrochemicals.
Shale gas exploration bids by Dec 2013
Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy said that India will launch its first-ever bid round for exploration of shale gas by December 2013. Six basins, namely Cambay, Assam-Arakan, Gondawana,KG onshore, Cauvery onshore and Indo Gangetic basins, have been identified that may have shale gas potential.
GSPL bags Bathinda-Srinagar pipeline project
Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL) has been awarded the Rs 855-crore Bathinda-Jammu-Srinagar gas pipeline project by the Union government.This was revealed at a high level meeÂting of officers chaired by Chief Secretary Madhav Lal, who reviewed 750-km long Bathinda in Punjab via Jammu to Srinagar gas pipeline project in Mumbai.
Gas production down for 14th straight month
The domestic gas production stood down for the 14th straight month in January due to the continuous drop in Reliance Industries-operated Krishna Godavari Basin D6 block output.The output fell by 8.9 percent year-on-year at 3.963 billion cu m. Reliance Industries has told the government that natural gas production at the producing fields in the bloÂck was likely to fall.
BG Group's stake in GGCL
The Adani group and state-run oil companies have signed confidentiality agreements to bid for the controlling stake of the BG Group in Gujarat Gas Co (GGCL).
Mozambique gas in India
Videocon Industries, which has 10 per cent interest in a Mozambique oil and gas block operated by joint venture partner Anadarko Petroleum, wants to bring its share of gas to India and sell it.
