Cargo traffic up 3.36%: Official
Buoyed by pick up in demand, IndiaĆĀ“s 12 major ports saw cargo traffic increase by 3.36 per cent to 499.23 mt in the first 10 months of the current fiscal. These top ports handled 483.01 mt cargo during April-Jan of the last fiscal.
Cochin Shipyard to build 4 catamarans: Gadkari
All set for its maiden foray into catamaran manufacturing, Cochin Shipyard will build four such popular vessels, used for cruising and other purposes. This is for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said.

A study by global consultants McKinsey & Co and AECOM for the Ministry of Shipping says optimising the logistics flow for key commodities by 2025 could save Rs.30,000-40,000 crore. It recommends creation of more capacity at major ports and a logistics aggregator company to consolidate the shipping supply chain.
