For setting up a 220 MW gas-based power plant at Raigad in Maharashtra, GAIL India has received environmental clearance. The government-owned firm plans to use one million standard cubic metre per day of natural gas to generate 220 MW of electricity at the proposed combined cycle power plant. The plant is being installed at a cost of Rs 1,028 crore. The power generated at the plant will be sold to Maharashtra.

Adani generates highest power at Mundra plant
Adani Power has attained the highest power generation of 4,644 MW at its Mundra plant in Gujarat. It is IndiaĆĀ“s largest thermal private power generator. With this, it is the only power station of such a gigantic size to reach a significant milestone in electricity production. The Mundra plant has five units of 660 MW and four units of 330 MW each.

Power System Development Fund approved
The government approved the proposal of the Ministry of Power for operationalisation of the Power System Development Fund (PSDF). This will be utilised for creating necessary transmission systems of strategic importance based on operational feedback by Load Dispatch Centers for relieving congestion in Inter-State Transmission Systems, according to Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
